Pretty in Pink

Share Article

I am drawn to the beauty of nature’s winter landscape: dried leaves and seed pods, weeds and grasses.  Aged beyond the suppleness and color of spring, their fragility and resiliency seem to me such lovely metaphors for life and for aging gracefully.

But, when I need to look up from the monochrome beauty of winter, before spring starts teasing with color, I study grocery store bouquets – with an intensity that sometimes makes store employees a little nervous – until I settle on the bouquet for a couple of happy afternoons of photography in front of a north window.

I recently saved a favorite “grocery store bouquet” photo (above) to the background on my cell phone.

Every time I turn on my phone, that shockingly pink Trio of Pinks is so unabashedly cheerful that I have to smile. So, I decided to share a happy little Pretty in Pink collection of (mostly flower) photos. Just because their color makes me smile. I hope it makes you smile, too.

Soon, very soon, we will be awash in God’s spring colors, but if flat grey is coloring your body or mind with winter today, may you see God’s smile in the sweet happiness of pink – or whichever of His colors most lights your day.
